Overview of
DBA Admin
David W. Grigsby has been a DBA professionally for
12 years. A sampling of my experience in a Resume format is
available under the
Background tab. Due to Non-Disclosures, many projects
and clients are not listed.
It is very common for SMB's to not have a dedicated DBA
to perform database administration tasks. This is where my skills and experience can provide a needed service
without incurring the cost of a full time DBA on staff.
Generally speaking, many tasks can be
done remotely and at off-peak hours, making the service very
appealing. Many clients enjoy the knowledge that remote
off-site backups are taking place. This provides the client
with proven restoration as well as providing for a cold or
hot site. Clients also enjoy the knowledge that the
database is being checked for database integrity without
impact to the production system.
Each client system is different, buy many
of the same tasks are needed and can be performed remotely
or onsite:
-
Backup and restore
-
User Management
-
Server Management and Tuning
-
Updating indexes, statistics, system
metrics
-
Log Maintenance
-
Trigger, Stored Procedure and Schema
Changes
-
Database ER and Schema documentation
